Was founded in Chicago shortly after civil society was threatened
with violence. Traditional buildings and cultural institutions were guarded.
the sanctuary of the museum space was suspect and society in general was nervous
in large public spaces. The museum project seeks to maintain a history of place
and a house of ideas. These are the following concerns:
I propose a temporary installation “museum” that is one part history/science/art, one part narrative, and one part myth. These are the necessary ingredients, I believe, that give culture meaning and for me, a sense of value and worth. Art is stronger than I, and Painting, I believe, has a power that has never ceased to enchant. But what to paint? Perhaps our times demand “Theater for attention.” I still crave stillness, history, wonderment, and hope for that which is mysterious and beautiful in our lives.
